Major Repair and Rehabilitation

The Major Repair and Rehabilitation Program, administered by the Housing Authority of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma (HASNOK), provides substantial assistance to low-income Native American families needing essential home repairs. The program offers forgivable grants of up to $25,000 to restore substandard homes to safe, decent, and sanitary conditions. Eligible applicants must be Seminole Nation members, Freedmen, or Native American families, own and occupy their home for at least five years, and meet HUD low-income guidelines (≤80% of the national median income).

Repairs may include plumbing, heating, roofing, foundations, electrical systems, and other structural needs, but funds cannot be used for remodeling or modernization. Homes must pass environmental and safety inspections, and participants must maintain the home as their primary residence for five years following repairs. Payments are made directly to licensed contractors. By investing in critical rehabilitation, HASNOK helps families remain in their homes and strengthens long-term housing stability.
