Minor Repair and Rehabilitation Program

The Minor Repair and Rehabilitation Program, administered by the Housing Authority of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma (HASNOK), provides vital assistance to low-income Native American homeowners in need of essential home repairs. This program offers forgivable grants of up to $5,000 to restore substandard homes to safe, decent, and sanitary conditions. Eligible applicants must be Seminole Nation members, Freedmen, or Native American families, own and occupy their home for at least five years, and meet HUD low-income guidelines. Covered repairs may include plumbing, heating, roofing, storm windows, foundations, and electrical systems. Homes must pass environmental inspections and remain the family’s primary residence for at least five months following repairs. Priority is given to displaced families, elders, disabled individuals, veterans, and Seminole tribal members. Funds are paid directly to licensed contractors, ensuring accountability. Through this program, HASNOK helps preserve housing quality, promote safety, and extend the useful life of homes in its service area.
